It just feels good to take a breather, so to speak, and have fun with the kids, and feel like time, at least for a few days, isn't rushing out of my hands. The weather didn't cooperate too well, as another northern blew in while we were there. My parents didn't get snow this time, but starting just a few miles from their house, we drove through beautiful snow-covered countryside for 2 hours on the way back to H-town. I stopped the car and let the kids play in some along the way...too fun! Poor Macie really didn't get to participate. Friday, March 26, 2010
Northeast Texas...Home Sweet Home
The kids and I enjoyed a fun visit to my parents' house near Sulphur Springs in late February. That is the great thing about homeschooling! We just packed up and went in the middle of the week. We enjoyed seeing my Uncle Gary, who Jack really likes, and dear friends Jerry and June Lucky. My parents live "in the country"--seriously--like, on a farm. Looking back, it was a great experience growing up there, and whenever I am there now, time seems to slow down. Days are spent without any rush, or really going anywhere--because there really isn't anywhere to go!

Birthdays In Kerrville
We had a super fun weekend in Kerrville in February to celebrate Dan, Bill, and Kae Kae's birthdays...as you can see from the photos, the attention was heavily focused on Kae! The weather was gorgeous; in fact, we spent a large part of the morning just sitting (or napping!) outside enjoying God's nature! Later that day we enjoyed cake, especially Kaelyn! The kids all had so much playing together. It is really nice now with some of the kiddos being older and truly helping out with the little ones--gives us adults a break! How Does A Flower Grow?
Many of you know that I have been homeschooling Callie this year...it's been very interesting! Fun, tiring, difficult...definately a learning experience for both of us! We recently completed a science portion about how plants grow and the parts of a flower. Callie grew a Forget-Me-Not flower in a small pot, and put together a project which she presented at the Baytown Homeschool Science Fair...which involved about 40 kids! I was very proud of her for speaking about her project to everyone.Yummy Yogurt
I don't know if it's a "third child thing" or what, but I"ve done quite a few things with Macie I don't think I would have with the older two! She was fussing about sitting in her highchair while I did some cooking, so I just put a large spoonful of yogurt on her highchair tray and let her go to town...what a mess! At this stage, the mess is worth the entertainment!Sweet Macie
Macie is growing up so fast! It's hard to believe that she is not that tiny newborn anymore. I love putting bows on her sweet little head--for some reason, I love the back of her head! It just makes me want to kiss it! She is finally getting a tiny bit of hair, fuzzy down-type stuff really, but we still do lots of headbands, bows and cute hats!
