My Baby is 2

Well, I am always a little sad at any of the kiddos' birthdays, simply because I just want them to stay my little babies!! Things are harder with Mae Mae, because she is the "last" one---last baby, last 1 year old, etc...Now she has turned two, and is changing so fast, talking so much, even tee tee in the potty (three times now!)...she is quickly leaving "baby" behind, and moving on to "toddler". Any birth of a child is eventful, of course, but Mae entered our lives after a time that had been especially trying on our family; a move, law school, lost pregnancy, Brad's passing. She seemed to sort of "rescue" us and remind us of the preciousness of life, of moving forward, because we have to, to keep up with her!! She is so precious, so precocious, so sweet, so stubborn, so loving, so impatient...a wonderful mixture of her sister and brother...such a joy! I love:

+ that she says "hold you" for "hold me"

+ that she grabs my face and plants a big kiss right on my lips

+ that she calls me "Lisa" when I don't answer her quick enough!

+ that she calls Callie and Jack "guys"..."hey, guys!"

+ that she asks for Daddy at least 100 times throughout the day

+ that she follows her questions with a "no" or "yes" at the end as if she already knows the answer

+ that she gets EXTREMELY excited about Dora each and every time she sees her on t.v., no matter how many times a day that happens

+ that she laughs 98% of the time

+ that she is angry the other 2% of the time--no middle ground for her!

+ that she calls toys "chees"

+ that she calls her new baby cousin Baby Yo, instead of Leo, and pretends her baby dolls are him

+ that she loves her grandparents and "calls" them on her phone

+ that she has to pile up ALL of her stuffed animals in the chair with us when we rock before bedtime

+ that she is absolutely fearless (although it is scary, too!)

+ that she really does believe she is funny, and does funny things to make us laugh

I love, LOVE this child! Thanks to God for her, and the joy she brings to our lives.

Batter Up!!!

Well, it's that season again...Baseball! And Softball! Jack's team, coached by Bryan this year, is the Rangers. Bryan has already messed up a couple of times and yelled, "Go Astros!"! Callie is on the Eagles. It's a crazy time, made crazier by never-still, climbing-the-bleachers-in-2-seconds, running-onto-the-field-in-3-seconds, climbing-into-everyone's-lap little sis Macie!! When I get to watch, I really enjoy seeing the kiddos play--they really like the sport, and it's fun to see them improve over a season. Batter Up!

Springbreak Was So Fun

We (the kiddos and I; Bryan had to stay and work :( )headed up to Kerrville for the first part of Springbreak...time for some cousin fun and relaxation. (at least for the travelers..I'm quite sure MeMe would not classify our gang taking over her house as "relaxing"!!) MeMe had an early Easter Egg Hunt planned, too. The "younger" cousins all have such a great time together, and I enjoy catching up with everyone as well. MeMe is very wonderful to let us hang out at her house..I know it must feel like a tornado has come through when we leave! Thanks to Krista as well, as myself and my kiddos bunked at her place. Baby Leo joined in this time--first Kerrville cousin trip for him! I've thought of Macie as "the baby" for so long it's almost strange to see an actual baby around, and it makes her look so big!! He's a super cuddler. Brady (Jenny's fiance') and his sweet little Chloe were able to join for the weekend, too--our family is just expanding like crazy!! I don't think I had my camera out until the day after they left, however. We also celebrated Kendall and Jenny's birthdays. Lots of fun memories made...I treasure these times. Our Springbreak definitely did not end as well as it started, though, as Jack came down with a tummy bug the day after we got home and got so sick we had to go to the ER for IV fluids, and even after that, he didn't kick the high fever and no appetite for several days...yuck!

Go Texan Day

Callie and Jack had Go Texan Day in the spirit of the Rodeo. Callie's grade really didn't do anything extra except dress-up, but Jack's class got to take pictures with a young longhorn steer, which he thought was pretty cool.
