Yellowstone 2011

The Hanna/Cassady Family went to Yellowstone in June...what a fun trip!! We flew there, and then rented a 15-passenger van. 3 small children, 1 infant, 6 adults for lots of time in the van...actually wasn't too bad! Poor little Leo didn't get many great naps, but he survived! We saw so many beautiful places, 6 grizzly bears, 1 black bear, lots of Elk and Bison, went on a cowboy cookout, went white water rafting and horseback riding in the hills...whew! So fun. One of my favorite stories is the Asian tourist who LOVED Leo...she kept cooing at him and patting him, and wanted her picture with him! All the while, he was in the baby bjorn being carried by Allison...pretty funny! Thanks to Grammy and Papa for a great trip!

Finally Swim Time

Finally! The kids have been asking to go swimming for months, it seems. Although it's definitely been hot enough, with end of school stuff and VBS and preparing for our Yellowstone trip, we finally snuck in a couple of pool trips. More pics like that to come, hopefully!

Champions VBS

In June we had Vacation Bible School at Champions. What a fun time! Sara Selby and I were "room teachers"-- the VBS has a theme, and there are several decorated rooms where different Bible stories are told/shown. The theme this year had to do with traveling do different places in the world, and our room was the South Pole--imagine tying that in to the story of Jesus healing the paralytic!! So, we separated our room in two parts, one side being the South Pole, and then the kiddos crawled through a tunnel into our "cave", where we watch "movies" about Jesus on our "big screen tv", because what else can you do at the South Pole?!! We then had teenagers act out the story for the kiddos. Kudos to Sara's husband Clay, who was the mastermind behind our script and room ideas. Because our room was a portable building, we controlled our AC and cranked it down in the 50's to REALLY simulate our part of the world! Hence the winter clothing. I had such a fun time being involved, spending time with Sara, and watching my kids learn and have fun with this church family we are really enjoying. Callie also invited her friend Angela from school, and she and her brother came the whole week. Macie didn't have a "real" class, but enjoyed hanging with Mrs. Bea and some of her MDO friends during VBS time.

Jack is Going to Kindergarten

Wow...it's here! Jack's first day of Kindergarten! It always felt like this day was so far away, but, it's here. He is in the LEAP class, which is a class sort of between K and 1st grade. We are so proud of him! While he is stubborn, meticulous, and a bit quirky, he is sweet, loving, kind-hearted and my boy. I'm excited to see how he does and be involved in all his activities, but I'm pretty sure I'll miss the little guy!

First Day of School 2011

Well, here we go! This summer sure went quickly! So hard to believe--3rd grade and KINDERGARTEN!!! They are both getting so big. I'm so proud of them, and as usual, a little sad...how time flies. I'm not sure how Macie is going to handle all the quiet time in the next few days! It will be different having one kiddo during the day! Jack's teacher is Mrs. Pett, and I think she will be great. Callie has Mrs. Norwood, who seems super great, too. Jack's backpack is at his request--camoflauge, but something baseball, A&M, and Astros--wow. So, cheap backpack, plus iron-on appliques--and there you have it! The Astros applique is in the mail...At least he knows what he wants, right??
